Though I hail from a family of entrepreneurs, joining the startup bandwagon was nothing less than defying traditions and norms. Every aunt I knew advised me against running behind companies and asked me to settle down, and I never knew what settling down meant. the world is all geared up to celebrate another overrated-media-hyped 'Women's day', I cant help but smirk at the corporate drama and the number of offers introduced for this one day. All the clubs in town are offering free drinks for women. Big Cinemas is letting women watch movies free of cost.Jet airways has promised a 10% discount during the entire month of March for lady travelers and is giving 500 additional miles to all the female Jet privilege members for travel between the 5th and the 15th. If I were in Jaipur, I could use the public transportation free of cost for all my travel during the day. Whoever the marketing strategist is behind these dumb ideas, take my word, you ain't worth my two cents. This day or any day, I can buy my own drink and pay for the movies that I want to watch. Neither have I lived in a lot of places nor have I already started going grey, but it is not beyond the comprehension of any woman (to be addressed as a girl has already started sounding annoying to me!) of any age to comprehend that women here, there, elsewhere and everywhere( yes, even if there were women on Venus) are no different. From the moment I landed here in the United States, and every new city I visit, the first thing I do is compare the women( its altogether a different thing that I end up checking their footwear and if they got a pedicure). Definitely women here in the US of A and the so called developed countries are more independent, self-respecting and self-loving and a lot more when compared to those back home.
