"What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."

I have decided to call my future child 'omlette'. No, not for the love of eggs and omlettes. Yesterday, I met someone who loves the name 'Rahul'. She is so much in love with that name that during her college years she had a teddy bear named' Rahul'. Years later, she named her first baby Rahul. Post Kuch Kuch Hota hein, SRK popularized the name so much that every Sita,Gita and Nita named their baby boy Rahul and the name kind of 'epitomized' handsome, youthful, charming lads. For instance, if you walked into any classroom and yelled Rahul, there will be 4 or 5 Rahuls turning to you. and every girl's secret boyfriend of the dreams would be called Rahul. Naming a child is a very difficult task. I have seen couples taking months to decide a name befitting their offspring. Why give fancy names and then feel disappointed when your kids don't live upto those names? Like you name your child Rama and he is not the 'raamudu manchi baaludu ' type

30 before 30 list!

At 1:24 am, instead of sleeping yours truly is going through another one of those deep-never ending-thoughtful-soulful-retrospective inspection of the last 25 years of her life and about things that shouldn't have been done and things that could have been done with the end result being a 30 before 30 list..I was just thinking of those times when striking off things from the to-do list gave me so much happiness that I wanted to go and party and dowse myself in a few martinis. I have a strange wish: to swim in a pool of Green Iguana's apple martini sipping little little every now and then. If you ever visit Tampa , Florida, you should try the martinis served at Green Iguana on Anderson Road and then you will understand why I wished that wish. Aah! How can I mention Green Iguana and not talk about their Fajitas?? They are simply so yumm yumm yumm. Yes, they are totally worthy of three yumms. I have this habit of digressing from things that I'm doing or things that I'm tal

how to kill a mocking bird

I am very much in favor of immigration in Hyderabad, almost everywhere in the city, except the areas around Hitec city, Madhapur. The mostly green slyvan suburb of the 'pearl city' that housed more than a thousand trees - was a favorite haunt for my friends and I just after finishing high school - has now become home for those tall, un-dendritic, not-so-fiesty buildings, very much like all those areas stripped out of trees and the earth crying at the sinking groundwater levels. As I drove through the place, I couldn't recognise the gallis anymore. I didn't feel at home at all. I did't feel this lost since the last season of ' Lost '.The boys that stole flowers and fruits from those trees dont know what to do anymore. They also feel lost. Just like all those people that enjoyed cruising through the gallis of Madhapur with their puppy-loves. It is shockingly saddening that an entire generation now doesn't have a place for their clandestine conquests.....an
