The Monster-In-Law Vs The Devil-In-Law

With every other day there seems to be an exponential increase in the number of social obligations, work commitments, stress and a greater effort to be put into relationships.. Relationships are becoming a double edged sword which require very very careful treading. Once broken, they will take a looooong time to mend! From time immemorial, the MIL and DIL relationship has been a very slippery one and almost all movies and soaps portray the MIL & DIL relationships in a very distasteful way setting a negative pace from the day 1. Here's a few tips or guidelines to survive The Monster-In-Law / The Devil-In-Law syndrome. 1) As you sow shall you reap If you cannot treat your MIL/DIL as a mother/daughter , do not expect to be treated like a daughter/mother. Remember, both love and respect have to be earned back. They are not on any buy one get one free offer. Dont treat your DIL/MIL the way you wouldnt want your daughter/mother to be treated. 2) Every lion is the king of t

A bit about myself..

Its been long since I have filled up an application form. The last form where I wrote about myself was long long ago when I had applied for the Masters. It already feels like a different decade. The only forms I fill these days are for PAN Card applications, company related forms and forms for bank accounts, which pretty much a robot can do and you don't have to think.  Considering the fact that I have to optimally utilize the fleeting and fragmented bandwidth available on the upper floor, I decided to crowd source answers for the question "Tell us something interesting, memorable, quirky or unique about yourself." Yeah! I know that is taking something a bit too far.. Actually, it was not a bad idea after all. I really got some interesting insights into myself. Mother India: A little mature. A little mental. Sometimes an adult. Sometimes a stupid. Now you put it into your fancy words. (I am trying to empower the Mother India these days and she seems to be learnin

April Fooooooooool!

It's funny how things change. Or rather how our perception of things changes. And days too. 1st April 2003: I would wake up on the 1st of April with a to-do list. A to-do list of how to make a fool of so and so person and what technique shall be used. 1st April 2013: I dint even realize it is April Fools day! And when the annoying RJ pointed out that , the first thing that came to my mind was that today is the 1st of April, THE 1st of a new month, THE 1st of another f**king financial year and that new account books were to be brought, new spreadsheets to be made, bills and rent to be paid, returns to be filed and on and on and on. You know, with time, perceptions change. And to-do lists too! April 2003: I am on full guard not to let the lesser mortals make a fool of me. "Aaaah, theres a lizard", "Oh! you flunked that paper" and that kind of crap dint work on me. I was way above the ordinary you see. So , to fool me you had to use a weapon way above t

Money & Management

If you are an active FB person, I am sure you wouldn't have missed this 'Excellent Tips By Warren Buffet' pic that has been shared like (what???) a million times (!!) on FB. Every other person on my 'Friends' list has shared it. My Mum did too! If you havent already seen it, I would simply conclude you weren't really active on FB. Or, you don't have the right set of people on your list who share the right set of things ;) I have always had a surplus of savings while my friends cringed about pocket money, savings and then, huge credit card bills as we grew up. Being born into a business family, I always assumed money management just came to me (yeah! just like that!) . I thought it had something to do with the genes and was transferred to all of us from Thathas and thathas from yore until, one fine day I was reading through these great tips by the great man and was like "Oh! Wait a minute! I already know all these! " and it was like a Deja vu mo

Happy Womens Day!!

My maid brought my chai and wished me 'Happy Women's Day'.. For a moment I was taken aback, smiled at her and wished her same to you.. At that instant, so many things came flooding to me..the way she massages my head after a tiring day...the way she chides me sometimes "close that laptop of yours and go eat".. the way she secretly pulls me away from the inlaws and tells me "I will manage that work, you go finish your meeting and come".. the way she comes back to me after a bout of hysterical yelling from me saying " has your anger gone, can we.."...At that instant I so wanted to pounce on her and give her a tight hug...  " Behing every woman's success is a kaamwali bai." I came across this quote long ago when I was still in college and fumed at the person who may have come up with that. I felt it was ridiculous and due credit was to be given to MEN for the success of the woman. Ten years and more than-i can-count number o

Secret recipe for energy :)

Being a woman is very difficult; especially juggling home, work, hobbies and most importantly shopping :P In all the hustle and bustle of daily life it is very common that most of us skip our breakfast. And then there are hunger pangs every now and then which lead to frustration and stress. One of my aunt, not being able to see me go through all that sent me a bottle of  her 'secret energy booster' recipe and trust me its working like anything!! Chop some dryfruits - cashewnuts, Almonds, Walnuts and pista and mix them with honey. Add honey just enough to cover all the dryfruits. Dont add too much of it. Grab a few spoonfulls everytime you skip breakfast or feel hungry. You can keep the bottle in the desk at work too! It tastes a thousand times better than those cereal bars which you get in the market. And above all, honey has loads of medicinal benefits. It is an amazing antioxidant and is great for the skin and complexion. Its just been a couple of weeks since I started having
